How to Plan a Trip to Cambodia

Entry

Before you travel to Cambodia, make sure that your passport is still valid for at least 6 months. Don’t forget to apply for the appropriate visa. There are two main types of Cambodian visas: e-visa and visa-on-arrival, with a maximum stay of 30 days for a single entry. Cambodia also offers visa-free entry to some countries and regions. Visa-free travelers are usually allowed to stay in Cambodia for a certain period of time, such as 30 days.

Currency

During traveling in Cambodia, we need to prepare enough cash. The currency of Cambodia is Riel, but US Dollar is also widely used. When you enter Cambodia, you cannot carry more than 3,000 dollars in cash. Be aware of the currency exchange rate and prepare small bills to make shopping easier. Tipping in Cambodia can be done at your discretion, usually around 1 USD.

Travel Time

The weather in Cambodia is hot, divided into dry season and rainy season. From November to April, is the best time to visit Cambodia. The weather is sunny and pleasant during this time of year, making it suitable for outdoor activities.

From May to October in Cambodia, the weather is characterized by more rainfall. But it is suitable for exploring the unique charms of nature. You can immerse oneself in the mysterious atmosphere of Angkor Wat. The water level of Tonle Sap Lake has risen and the view of floating villages on the water has become more spectacular.

Transportation

Transportation in Cambodia is relatively convenient and can be reached by plane and car. You can choose direct flights to Phnom Penh International Airport or Siem Reap International Airport. Cambodia borders Thailand, Laos and Vietnam with several border crossings for international buses.

Within Cambodia, you can take local buses or taxis to various attractions. It is recommended to use regular taxi apps Grab and Passapp. If you are a cycling lover, cycling tours in Cambodia are also very good choices. Tuk-tuk cars are also the main transportation in Cambodia, suitable for short trips and sightseeing.

Accommodation
